Indramayu, August 22, 2024 – In an effort to strengthen the capacity for data management and utilization at the village level, Kenanga Village in Sindang District, Indramayu Regency, has been inaugurated as a 'Statistics Loving Village' in an event that brought together various community and local government elements. The event took place on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, marking a significant step in improving and integrating the village data systems.
That morning, accompanied by the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" and a communal prayer, the Statistics Loving Village team from the BPS (Statistics Indonesia) of Indramayu Regency, along with the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) and the Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), began the event with enthusiasm and hope. Given its background of national accolades, such as Paralegal awards, Kenanga was chosen as the ideal representation for this initiative.
Darpani, the Village Head of Kenanga, expressed gratitude to all involved parties and hoped for ongoing guidance to make Kenanga a model in data management and literacy. Dadang Supriatna, the District Head of Sindang, added that the initiative aims to make Kenanga a pilot village in Indramayu for statistical and data management.
Furthermore, Agus Awalludin from the BPS of Indramayu explained that Kenanga was selected based on a comprehensive analysis of the village's achievements, while Sukasa from Bappeda emphasized the importance of data in national development. He expressed hope that Kenanga could serve as a promoter for other villages in implementing effective data management.
The ceremony also featured the signing of the Inauguration Charter and the presentation of the Statistical Agent Decree to the Statistics Loving Village, followed by a series of presentations on the importance of statistics and data management by Didin and Iqbal. Didin noted that villages currently face challenges with data application systems and human resources, which require an improvement in data literacy.
A discussion session led by event participants provided further insights into the expectations and challenges faced in the program, with questions reflecting an urgent need for better data understanding at the grassroots level.
Through the Statistics Loving Village designation, Kenanga not only has the potential to develop its own capacities but also sets an example for other villages in Indonesia to follow in harnessing data for sustainable development. This program symbolizes hope that with better data, more inclusive and sustainable development can be achieved.
